As a humanitarian aid organization, Support to Life (STL) implemented Individual Protection* activities under Refugee Support Programme through 9 hubs located at 8 different cities in Turkey, to the people who are under temporary or international protection status. The activities help and assist the refugees to access state provided legal services including health, education, registration. In 2017, Support to Life Hubs delivered Individual Protection Assistance for 9,000 refugees directly to access the services, while 11,000 individuals has been reached with almost 900 awareness-raising sessions about basic rights and pathways to access to services.

Conducting the “Refugee Support Programme” activites since 2012, Support to Life expanded its Individual Protection activities with the opening of 5 new STL Hubs in Kayseri, Mersin, Adana, Mardin Kızıltepe and Şanlıurfa Akçakale in 2017.

*As part of Individual Protection activities, “Enhancing access to effective services and protection for people of concern in Turkey” project, funded by European Humanitarian Aid and implemented by Support to Life (STL), supports 12,000 refugees living outside the camps through STL’s Hubs of 6 cities in Turkey.

EUROPEAN CIVIL PROTECTION AND HUMANITARIAN AID OPERATIONS

The European Union and its Member States are a leading global donor of humanitarian aid. Through the European Commission’s Humanitarian Aid and Civil Protection department (ECHO), the EU helps over 120 million victims of conflict and disasters every year. With headquarters in Brussels and a global network of field offices, ECHO provides assistance to the most vulnerable people solely on the basis of humanitarian needs, without discrimination of race, ethnic group, religion, gender, age, nationality or political affiliation.
