The message that emerged from the “Rooted Change: Dialogue Meeting for Local Climate Action” we organized in Istanbul is clear: A response to the climate crisis is only possible through collective and financially viable actions rooted in local communities. The meeting report and video recordings of the sessions are now available.
Organized by Support to Life in collaboration with the Climate Research Association, with support from Diakonie Katastrophenhilfe and contributions from TÜSEV, the panel held in Istanbul on October 6, 2026, featured speakers from municipalities, villages, civil society, and academia who shared their experiences regarding local climate action across five sessions.
The sessions addressed the following topics:
- The processes by which local governments implement their climate action plans
- The impacts of drought, floods, and wildfires on livelihoods in rural areas
- Promising solutions implemented at the local level
- Ways to translate scientific knowledge into practice
With COP31 set to take place in Antalya in just a few days, the report we’ve published brings together these discussions and the conference’s key findings.
You can watch all the sessions on our YouTube channel in six parts.
