Support to Life's new report examining the impact of the ‘Survivor Community Led Response (sclr)’ program in the disaster area is now available. The Impact Analysis Report mirrors the positive results of community initiatives in disaster preparedness, response and recovery; it reveals the importance of transforming traditional humanitarian aid into a community-oriented model.

Launched by Support to Life in 2021 in the aftermath of floods and forest fires in different regions of Türkiye, the ‘Survivor Community Led Response (sclr)’ program aims to support disaster preparedness and recovery projects of local communities through micro-grants. Following the February 6 earthquakes, the project continued in Adıyaman, Hatay, Kahramanmaraş and Malatya, and to date, 379 projects, 305 of which were in the earthquake zone, have received micro-grants.

The report, which examines the impact of the ongoing project in cooperation with different funding organizations, highlights the following positive impacts:

  • Community Empowerment: 84% of program participants state that they are better prepared for disasters.
  • Improved Risk Awareness: Communities demonstrated high awareness of various disaster risks and local knowledge of mitigation strategies.
  • Inclusive Participation: 85% of community initiatives are led by men and 46.15% by women, including specific support for vulnerable groups, demonstrating a strong gender balance.
  • Financial Growth: Program funding increased from 2.4 million TL in 2022 to 26.6 million TL in 2024.
  • Stakeholder Engagement: Communities developed stronger relationships with local authorities and forged new partnerships with various organizations.
