The report 'Strengthening Communities: ‘Socioeconomic Recovery in Post-Earthquake Türkiye', which includes outputs and recommendations on socioeconomic recovery after 6 February Earthquakes in 6 provinces affected by the disaster, is now online.

The report, prepared jointly by Support to Life and Action Against Hunger (ACF), which continues to work actively in the disaster area, brings together quantitative and qualitative data in the light of interviews with different stakeholders related to socio-economic recovery, such as professional chambers, local government, private sector and disaster-affected people; and provides an up-to-date snapshot of the economic situation in the six provinces affected by the earthquake.

The report, which identifies obstacles to socioeconomic recovery following the earthquakes that caused a decline in the registered workforce by nearly a quarter, focuses on factors such as migration, motivation to participate in the labor market, trauma, a shortage of skilled labor, difficult living conditions in temporary shelter, rates of unregistered work, and dependency on social assistance.

The assessment report also provides recommendations to support long-term and inclusive recovery, including promoting economic diversification and revitalizing the local economy, strengthening the workforce and capacity building, particularly in post-earthquake reconstruction sectors, better understanding the conditions of those living in temporary shelters, and using local knowledge to tailor interventions to cultural and socioeconomic contexts.
